The Eternal Covenant of Love

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”John 13:34-35 (Inspired by the Mirror Bible)

Embracing our Oneness in Christ Jesus, sealed by the Eternal Covenant, and experiencing the overflow of His love.

Understanding the Eternal Covenant

The book of Hebrews illuminates the new and better covenant established through Christ Jesus, an eternal promise of God's unwavering presence and our redemption. This covenant is not of law, but of grace, relationship, and His indwelling life.

Sealed in Christ

This Eternal Covenant, as detailed in Hebrews (e.g., Hebrews 8:6, 9:15, 13:20), fulfills and surpasses all previous covenants. It's established on better promises and sealed by the sacrifice of Jesus, granting us direct access to the Father and the assurance of His indwelling Spirit.

The Promise of Transformation

Through this covenant, God declares, “I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds” (Hebrews 10:16). This signifies an inward transformation, where His desires become our desires, leading us to naturally express His love and holiness from a place of rest and union.

Covenant Promise

Living within this Covenant means resting in His finished work, allowing His life and love to naturally flow through us.

Our Oneness in the Covenant

The Eternal Covenant is the very foundation of our Oneness with Christ Jesus and, through Him, with the Father and each other. It's the divine agreement that makes this unity an unshakeable, experienced reality.

Divine Unity

Included in Christ

Metanoia is awakening to this glorious inclusion. We are not separate entities striving for God, but beings already made one with Him through the covenant love of Jesus. His life is our life; His Spirit, our breath, His love, our natural expression.

The Father's Embrace

This Oneness, guaranteed by the covenant, reveals the Father's embrace as constant and unconditional. It's not something to be earned but to be realized and rested in. We are His beloved children, always accepted, always cherished.

Living as One

Recognizing this shared identity transforms how we see ourselves and others. We are interconnected parts of one Body, naturally expressing the Father's love and kindness as the fruit of this indwelling Oneness.

The Overflow of His Love

The “new commandment” in John 13:34-35 is not a burden, but a beautiful description of what happens when we receive the Truth of His love for us. As Jesus pours His love into us, it naturally overflows to those around us.

Receiving His Love

Our primary posture is to receive the unconditional, sacrificial love of Jesus. As we are filled with His love, it becomes the source from which we relate to others.

Love's Natural Expression

Loving one another as He loved us is the spontaneous fruit of His indwelling Spirit. It's the identifying mark that reveals His life at work in us, not our effort.

Covenant Assurance

The Eternal Covenant assures us that this capacity to love is not our own, but His divine nature expressing itself through us as we rest in our union with Him.

John 13:34-35 (Mirror Bible - Example):

“I am giving you a new instruction that is birthed from within you: love one another! Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. The entire world will recognize you as my disciples when they observe the demonstration of your love for one another!”(Please replace with your preferred Mirror Bible translation)
